Executable Defined

A executable file is a file which performs tasks according to the code within the file. A executable file differs from a data file, which just stores data and generally needs a executable file to view.

Generally, executable files perform tasks which are benefitical to the user. However, hackers use executable files to execute malicious lines of code used to steal information from the user. It is best to access each executable file if the user is infected. Trojan horses and worms can use executable files to execute their processes.
